This is a list of Bible encyclopedia/dictionary resources that are either in the Public Domain or are license compatible with the Door43 license and so can be directly used in the Handbook:
- Easton's Bible Dictionary - (in wiki markup from WikiSource, in HTML and plain text from CCEL.
- Wikipedia is full of resources and encyclopedia information about Biblical people, places, topics, etc. We want to be sure to only take what is really good quality (watch for liberal bias, etc.).
- International Standard Bible Encyclopedia - the 1915 version is in the Public Domain (more information here).
- Fausset's Bible Dictionary is in the Public Domain, available in HTML here.
- Hitchcock's Bible Dictionary is in the Public Domain, available in HTML here.
- Smith's Bible Dictionary is in the Public Domain, available in HTML and plain text from CCEL.
- Nave's Topical Bible is in the Public Domain (according to this source) and is available in HTML and plain text from CCEL.
