A Study Bible is an important tool for students of the Bible, especially for pastors and teachers as they prepare material for teaching others.

Open Study Notes provides verse-by-verse information about the historical, cultural and linguistic context of every Bible passage. Anyone can help create and edit the Open Study Notes project and, because it is released under a Creative Commons license (see Door43:Copyrights), it is free to translate, use and redistribute in any format.

We envision seminary students, pastors, Bible school students – anyone who is doing in-depth Biblical study – contributing their notes and research and giving to the global church the gift of their academic ability.

Purpose

Specific purpose: Provide verse-by-verse information for every passage of the Bible to help explain the historical, cultural and linguistic context of the original audience, such that the reader can better understand the intent of each passage.

Project Status

We are in the design stage of the Open Study Notes. Join us in the forum to give your input.
