Saul in the Old Testament was the first king of the nation of Israel. 1 Samuel 9-31
Saul in the New Testament was a Jewish man who was very dedicated to God and served Him with much energy. (Philippians 3:3-6) He was saved by Jesus revealing himself to him (Acts 9). After this, he was known as Paul and he served God as a missionary. See the handbook entry on Paul for more details on his life of service to God.
